Description
The basic premise of this Mock is to flip older players for picks and to fill holes our roster has. Krejci and company get shipped to the Jackets for Ryan Murray, who gets back into playing more than 20 minutes a night as a top 4 guy.

The LA trade is very interesting to me. Backes and Brown are both older type RW leaders. Flipping them would open new possibilities to these teams who are likely to have a disappointing season in 2018-2019. They swing for the fences by making this swap of tough hard nosed players.

The Bruins find a way to dump Beleskey. He's not terrible in this vision, but he's certainly not worth nearly 4M. They also give Subban a chance with someone else. We pull in a late pick as part of the deal as well for 2 guys that didn't work out the way we had planned.

Our 1 UFA signing is 2nd line Center Brian Little. I think Winnipeg will have trouble resigning him as Laine, Dano, Ehlers, Trouba and Morrissey will all be getting enormous raises. He is a great player and I think they try to keep him, but if he has to go to keep the younger stars than it must be done. We swoop in and scoop him up on a fair deal. He gets paid 24M over 4 years because he is a big ticket item. He fills a rather sizable hole we have at the #2 C spot and gives Trent Frederic more time to progress in the AHL.

In this Mock I'm assuming we'll be keeping Bergeron until his contract expires. He will be the team leader and will help the younger guys grow into their roles.

I contemplated moving Rask, but I think that when he's playing his best, he is our teams #1 player. Sometimes he just completely dominates, but we have to find a way to make that happen more consistently. I think he's worth keeping.

As for Heinen, I think he barely edges out Cehlarik, who I like a lot, as the 3rd line Left Wing. It could really go either way, but I think they both get some quality time in the lineup to show their stuff. There will be an even battle there and if we Kept Vatrano, he would have been part of the players competing for that one spot.

About Bjork, Senyshyn and Zboril: They will be due bridge deals. We have about 8M in cap space if we don't retain Kevan Miller. We can spread that around to them and then in 2 and 3 years time we will have an abundance of cap room from Bergeron, Brown and Rask moving on.

I really like these lines that have been formed. Theres a veteran on each line to lead the way inside the top 9. Bergy and Marchy will always stay together. I like Little and Pastrnak as a potent pair. Brown and JFK will be very hardworking defensive oriented players together. The 4th line has the young guys with a lot of energy and a lot to prove. They'll get things done.

The defense is pretty legit now. I generally don't like to see McAvoy and Krug together in a mock because McAvoy is not ready to be the leader defensively. However, this is 2 years from now and he will surely progress. I feel comfortable they will make a good pair and then the 2nd top 4 pair will also shine. Murray Carlo is a really really solid pairing. I think they would be underestimated for awhile but would become one of the best 2nd pairs in the league. Zboril beats out Lindgren for the last LHD spot. It could go either way, but I'm giving the nod to Zboril in this mock. Kevan Miller plays his last year here as the #6 guy. Lindgren will be ready for when injuries happen.

I hope I covered everything I wanted to get to. This is not likely to happen, but I think if things did work out this way we would be in a great position. We'd have about 9 or 10 really young players integrated into the lineup getting playing time and progressing. If we incorporate them slowly we'd have a greater chance for success.

Ryan Murray.
CBJ
  1. DeBrusk, Jake
  2. Krejci, David
  3. Lauzon, Jérémy
  4. Spooner, Ryan
Additional Details:
The Jackets go after Krejci and Spooner when they decide to move Murray. They are ready to compete and be a top flight team, so they throw in their 1st rounder to acquire DeBrusk after DeBrusk scores double digit goals in the NHL in 2018. Lauzon rounds out the trade as the potential replacement for Murray. I think Lauzon could be a good 2 way LHD on the 3rd pair, so it seems he'd be a good fit to play the role Murray is being used in now.
2.
BOS
  1. Brown, Dustin
  2. 2020 2nd round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
LA wants to go in a different direction after a mediocre season. They want to shake up the roster and integrate some new players. Backes can fill the hole Browns departure would create in terms of play as well as leadership. They add a 2nd round pick to the deal to obtain Vatrano as well. He'll be a useful 3rd liner.
3.
BOS
  1. 2020 6th round pick (COL)
COL
  1. Beleskey, Matt
  2. Subban, Malcolm
Additional Details:
Colorado gets Subban by also taking the underperforming Beleskey. All they have to surrender is a 6th round pick to obtain the former 1st round pick goalie. Subban will need another shot somewhere else and Colorado just lost their guy who was about his age in Pickard. Losing a goalie that developed could hurt them this year as well as in the future, so they attempt to minimize his departure. Subban could be groomed to be their future #1.

It's just not realistic for many reasons.
You want to inject youth but you are giving away 4 strong prospects. I don't think you can assess kids at this age, they haven't even filled out yet. I think you need to see what you have first with their play in Providence.
The big one is the suggestion Bergeron eventually leaves. That won't happen. He will retire a Bruin.
There are plenty of spots to inject the youth, it will naturally happen over time. Several may make it this year if Sweeney doesn't dip into FA in a big way! Which I'm not sure he should.
Not a big fan of Brown or Little, they are on their way down and out.
3 Stars for the effort, time and thinking you put into it though!

Why would Krejci be willing to wavie to go to CBJ and why would Columbus want him at $7 million per?

The big one is what? I said Bergeron stays his entire contract lol, not that he was being traded, if he's still a good player we re-sign him. Also I didn't really give away any prospects, we got better players for guys who WILL be moved. Spooner and Subban could go this year. Little is a great replacement for Krejci as a UFA. Personally I like Zboril better than Lauzon, but if you feel Lauzon is better than you can place him with Zboril. I don't see how you would think we'd have more than 5 of our F prospects on the team in 2 years, like I have. What you also have to realize is that we gained picks by giving prospects. We can't have all these guys all play at the same time, so trading some for futures a year or 2 away makes total sense to keep the team stable with an influx of talent every year.

Krejci doesn't have a NMC this year in 2019. He can pick half the teams in the league to go to and I'm betting Columbus is one of them and ready to compete.

They take his money on and his reliable 50 point type play along with some young depth to move on from Murray after they re-sign Johnson. They surrender a 1st rounder for DeBrusk, who is a 3rd LW who scored lets say 12 goals in 2018. You have to give to get and CBJ trades with us because we're the highest bidder.

I think you didn't understand this at all and that's why you gave it a 1. It clearly makes a lot more sense than a 1 score IMO. It's like you didn't even know Krejci's contract turns from a NMC to a Modified NTC in 2019 and that's like the entire premise of this mock. Moving Krejci and Backes when their NMC's expire and finding cheaper or younger replacements.

Please make sure you comprehend what I'm doing next time if you are going to grade it. It seems neither of the people who rated this read it carefully enough or had enough consideration.

Bottom line is, why spend the time doing a mock for 2 years from now when you don't know what will happen?
Vatrano could score 30+ goals this year, you want to get rid of him.
DeBrusk and Lauzon could make the team this year or even next year and impress, why would you want to trade them?
Paying way too much money for 2 guys that are unimpressive Little/Brown
Reality is Bruins will grow from within, Sweeney has said as much. So making exciting blockbuster trades while fun, is not realistic.
