Fan, I see no value to either team i the Boston trade, and if you have figured out and rightly so, that Trouba will never resign in Winnipeg, then you are offering way too much to bring him to Toronto, even if you can expect to sign him! Winnipeg has said that they want a young LD man back so in this case let them either eat his last year or offer them Nielsen and a 1st or 2nd! YOU"RE RIGHT they'll say no and get nothing back for him in the long run! If Not a LD, offer them any of the players you put in, and a 2nd!

In the Boston trade I see the Leafs nabbing the perfect 3rd line centerman who when paired with JVR and Brown could become a huge offensive threat while maintaining their defensive responsibility. Leivo and Rychel are going to be great 3rd and 4th line wingers respectively but we need a 3C.

No too sure what you're trying to say with Trouba but ultimately I'm offering them this:
-2 middle six veteran forwards to help them make the playoffs this season (also could see them resigning Bozak)
-A cheaper and still young right handed defenseman in Carrick who probably tops out as a very cheap and reliable no.4 defenseman.
-A B/B+ Left Handed Defenseman in Nielsen, and knowing that Winnipeg loves their tough and mean defenders I think it could be reasonable they would value him
    -A first round pick

Ultimately my logic is this: 1 we're upgrading Carrick, Nielsen is behind our depth charts with adding Rosen, Borgman and Liljegren, Bozak and Komarov are great veterans but our young guns need playing time

Fan, Lets start by saying opinion is just that opinion, so here goes! I don't have the same opinion as you do on the Boston deal, as I don't feel that Leivo, and Rychel have the value you do! (they could both leave for a bag of pucks and the plus side of that would be the 2 contracts that we drop) In regards to Spooner, I don't see how he is an upgrade on either Bozak, or Kadri who IMO are both #3 centers at best! Realize that starting the 2018 season, Nylander will be Leafs #2 center!

No question that Trouba is a huge upgrade, albeit far more expensive over Carrick! I don't disagree with any of your "ultimate logic", all i am saying is that throwing all of those into the deal and a pick is a huge overpayment and doesn't allow us to use some of them for other upgrades! (AND they can't likely keep him anyways)! Take out the pick, take out either Bozak or Komorov, and I still think the deal should work for Winnipeg, or I think Leafs should pass! My belief listening to what Winnipeg says they want for Trouba, is to offer Gardiner, and Shosnikov (need help on right side) and a 2nd! But an extension for Trouba would have to be done in advance!
