Guess this means Detroit is probably drafting Reinbacher 9th if he's still there.

Liljegren isn't expendable for the Leafs, if he's dealt it's probably for a more experienced Dman.

It’ll probably be the highest rated Center or RHD on the board and same goes for the 17th pick, even if it’s the same position back to back.

It’d be tough to get an experienced starting RHD for Toronto that will cost less than $1.4m and I think they have guys in house that can man that side which is why I think a deal like this makes sense.

They’re not going to (and can’t afford) pay Bunting to return so, they’ll need to replace his scoring and to get a guy that can put up 20-30 goals for $1.25m is huge.

Knies could probably pot 20G playing in the top 6, plus Bunting is easier to replace via FA potentially. Leafs would need to get a big ticket ufa to fill in on the right side, all they have is Timmins and he's less proven than Liljegren. Quite possible that they both need to play since they only have the two and Brodie under contract on that side.

A big ticket player, hm - is that something the Leafs can afford to do? I would imagine they’d just re-sign Schenn to a $1m deal or so and call it a day.

Probably not if they are resigning Matthews and Nylander, but what I meant is they would need to replace Liljegren somehow. If Schenn does resign (although it sounds like he wants to get a decent raise), it would be Schenn, Brodie, and Timmins still, and considering that Brodie has a year left and Schenn is like 34 and Timmins was behind Liljegren in the depth charts, I don't see how a new GM is going to be comfortable with that right side.
