Karlsson to Toronto and Sharks offseason

Totally honest it would be Nylander and Murray for Karlsson with 2 mil retention is the max I would expect. Nylander is a premier RW in a weak market and Karlsson comes with some risk.

Coming from someone who doesn’t like karlsson at all I can’t really accept that comment as fact. It simply isn’t. Learn to separate your biases from your decisions.

Bias aside Karlsson has a substantial injury history and 3 1/2 not great injury riddled seasons prior to last year, I want as much as we can get and if we could grab and resign Nylander I would be pretty stoked!

I think this deal is pretty fair. Some quality picks/prospects are a must in any Karlsson deal or else why is SJ doing it

taking Nylander comes with some risk
he has 1 year than can walk in UFA
so SJ only does this for some other pieces or if they are confident they can ship out Nylander for additional futures when he doesn't want to resign to play for a dumpster fire

Nylander would return very similar to Meier I would assume and and 9.5 mil off the books plus 2 1sts and 2 decent prospects/players for Karlsson seems like a slam dunk IMO or we resign Nylander if he is willing and build around him Hertl Eklund and Smith (my choice at 4th OA) if Karlsson was 27/28! I wouldn’t think of this but him being 33 makes me want that deal. By my assessment sharks could possibly be a playoff team in 24/25 but more likely 25/26. And Nylander would be huge since sharks don’t have any real top 6 RHS players in the nhl or in the prospect pool as of right now.
