Description
Team is designed to give Sullivan 3 great scoring lines that would give other teams nightmares and followed by an defensive 4th line that goes out for 8-10 min a night and doesn't hurt us by allowing goals.

-- Nylander, DOC and Puustinen fight it out for 3rd LW.

-- Cam Talbot is a vet backup who can split games with Campbell in order to keep both fresh. He can start in a pinch and take on a starter work load which I question alot with Casey Desmith.

-- Bunting is a great TWF that plays a very similar style to Jason Zucker and is in my mind an easy target to be on Geno's wing. Bunting also plays that in your face 200 ft style of game that fits Sullivan's system to a tee.

-- Connor Brown is a low risk, high reward type signing as he is coming off a lost season due to a torn ACL. When healthy, he is an excellent TWF that can get selke votes and produces at a very good rate offensively.

-- Teddy Blueger is brought back as he is someone who Sully trusts and fits the mold of a defensive 4th line center and penalty killer. (fixing a Hextall error as Teddy was never a problem in the bottom 6)

-- Carson Soucy is a big defensive dmen who is a great skater for his size and is a good passer which is needed from the defense. He would help the PK with his size to clear the front of the net which was still an issue last season.

PIT
  1. Scheifele, Mark ($3,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
With the Jets looking to re-tool and Scheifele being non committal to his future in Winnipeg, the Jets move on from him.

Scheifele is a big powerful forward who scored 40 last season and would give the penguins an elite center core and give Sullivan the ability to role 3 lines without having to worry about a garbage 3rd line like he had last season. Scheifele would also boost our power play big time which cost us many games last season.

Scheifele could also be deployed on Crosby or Geno's wings late in a period which would be deadly and if Sid or Geno get hurt, we won't have Carter as a 2C :)
WPG
  1. Broz, Tristan [Reserve List]
  2. DeSmith, Casey
  3. Granlund, Mikael
  4. 2023 1st round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Desmith is a NHL goaltender that the Jets can use to be a backup or stop cap once they move Helly.

Granlund is the same, a stop gap for their center core as they will be losing both Dubois and Scheifele.

Broz is a former 2nd round pick, he's a playmaking TWF who most likely projects as a 3rd line center.

PIT
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (VAN)
  2. 2023 4th round pick (NYR)
  3. 2024 3rd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
With Vancouver arguably needing to fill 3-4 dmen spots, they turn to a player whom they were rumored to have interest in last offseason.
VAN
  1. Smith, Ty
Additional Details:
Young OFD who simply doesn't fit our needs on the left side, Him or POJ need to be dealt IMO.
3.
PIT
  1. Campbell, Jack
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Now this is in a scenario where EDM wants to clear cap space and not have a 5mil dollar backup.

It's no secret that acquiring Jack Campbell comes at a massive risk as he is coming off an abysmal season and is still under contract for 4 more seasons. Campbell was Dubas guy in Toronto for 3 seasons and he was good, so there is a sense of trust between the two.

Getting Campbell would also allow us to recoup a draft pick or two since he is viewed as a cap dump.

I truly don't believe we will trade for a big name goaltender. To me, the most likely scenario is Jarry comes back or we get a goaltender like Jack Campbell, Dan Vladar or UPL.

I don't hate this Scheifele trade, but you're going to have to add a pick for us to take back Granlund. We do need centres, but if we're returning Byfield in the LAK trade as rumoured, I would rather take on a player like Johansen as a salary dump than use that slot on Granlund who has been *no bueno* for two seasons. Desmith is the type of reclamation project goalie that i'm interested in though. I don't know anything about Broz.

Wouldn't give up the 14th overall for a rental.

Ummm negative on that Edmonton trade. Edmonton needs to add at least the 24 1st, if not the 25 1st too. Otherwise it’s not worth the risk and waste of cap space. If we are going to take on a longterm risk at that cost, just re-sign Jarry.

Like i mentioned Broz most likely ends up as a 2way playmaking 3rd line center if he reaches his potential, What kind of pick would need to be added for Granlund? my thought process was that Broz could potentially cover that

I wouldn't either, but every trade for 14 is with the idea that the player we get would be extended. There isn't many players worth 14 who have term on their contracts
