People can disrespect what he did for us , i choose not to.
Yes he started every year including our SCF run year on LTIR to start
But come January each year he's back and ready to battle for a playoff spot.

I get why teams looked elsewhere just like i get why WSH grabbed him now.
He's a solid #5 D with size and a huge wing span with reach well past his 6'6 physique would suggest he should.
He's just nearing the end of his run and looking for a 3 SCF in the latter half of that career.
WSH if they make moves and Leonard starts this year could be really interesting
Without Leonard they'll have to find some value in a Comtois or someone like that.
But all plausible


Im also excited for Maillet who looks like just another 30 year old Scrub
But he's been actually quietly putting together a quality resume in Russia after leaving WSH.
He's a unique player who creates offense via his ability to never stop skating
Im not sure he makes the NHL but from an AHL POV we're looking at someone player on a career high.
But why i like it is he gives us options if Kent can move Dvorak for a profit or Evans like Eddy.
I know , i know "Who will want them" well everyone said that about Eddy outside a half dozen people
He just got a pretty good return. Not huge but not peanuts either.
