Here's my question on Yams: is he a "Bednar" type player enough to hold down a 3rd line spot? Obviously, he can score a bit but he's small so the "grit" factor may not really be there. I do like the idea if for no other reason than, if Drouin doesn't work out on the top six (highly likely he doesn't), he could play up there and probably be okay. For $1M, that's something to consider.

We have no cap space and the pool of available talent is too thin to be picky for “Bednar” type only players. That being said, Yamamoto plays with speed AND physicality (77hits in 56games last season).

Woods like to shoot off the rush, Colten is a shoot first player, and Yamamoto is a speedy pass first player. The fit is perfect. Low risk, high reward deal

If he's going to come in and be pesky and help drive play, that's probably good enough for Bednar. If that third line can be dangerous but also defensively responsible, that's a big improvement over last season.

Yes, when you have 5 top 4D men on the roster, one is bound to play on the third pairing. What’s your point here? All 5 deals (Makar, Toews, Manson, Girard, Byram) are fair market value. They haven’t gone out into FA to add an overpaid defenseman to their core. This is a byproduct of drafting Makar and Byram and it pushing Girard to the third pairing
