Description
None of this will happen. Maybe the team stays healthy, finds its form of old, and makes a deep run with a lot of luck. However that is unlikely. We should rebuild now and play our young talent. Let Leonard joins this season.

Tank while letting Ovi go after the goal record and developing young talent. Pick top 10 4-5 years in a row and restock the cupboards.

Again I know this will not happen

I one thousand percent agree that this is the direction they need to go. Caps are going to set themselves up for mediocrity while trying to fulfill the promise to Ovi of being competitive while he's still around. Make sure there's enough firepower for his line to play well and to generate enough looks on the power play, and gut the rest of the roster

This team would not be competitive but it would honestly be fun to watch and we would get to have full focus on Ovi's chase.

I do want Ovi to win another cup but we need so much to go right to make a run. I don't think this years team can do it. Maybe next years if they have a massive retool.

          Sadly it wont happen

Agreed. The best scenario the team can hope for is one of those fluke runs to the Final because they got hot at the right time, a la 2017 Nashville/2021 Montreal. It would be awesome as a fan to experience that again, but ultimately this team is not going to be a champion

I really don't see the team moving Wilson, I think that the organization views him as the next captain and the one who will guide Washington through the rebuild when Ovi/Backstrom/Oshie are all gone

I don’t see them doing any of this. But we likely would be better off
