Description
From the looks of it, the Sharks have 2 rumored deals floating around for Erik Karlsson. They can either trade him to Pittsburgh with less retention and take on additional bad contracts with less term, or they can commit to retaining a large amount and ship him to Carolina to acquire some high value futures. With the team several years from contending, I think I am on the high retention = high value train as of now, but we will see what plays out this weekend. As for the lines, I think they would find a Veteran to lock down 4C, that just feels like Grier and Quinn's style, but idk who so I just slotted in Bordeleau for now. Will be Bystedt or Bordeleau by the trade deadline. Similarly, I think Thrun (and maybe Knyzhov too) start the year with the Cuda but are regulars by the end of the year. Sharks management seem to be in no rush to get prospects in the lineup.
Trades
1.
SJS
  1. Myers, Tyler
Additional Details:
After the Canucks pay Myers' bonus.
2.
SJS
  1. Perets, Yaniv
  2. Pesce, Brett
  3. 2024 1st round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
Perets doesn't need to be included but I know Mike Grier wants to add quality goaltending prospects + Quinnipiac just won a national title and, while not exactly a Boston-Area college, GMMG clearly loves his New England college players. I wonder with Carolina’s goaltending situation if this makes Perets expendable. The first round pick is top 15 protected.
CAR
  1. Karlsson, Erik ($4,350,000 retained)
3.
SJS
  1. Fabbro, Dante
  2. 2025 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
This wouldn't officially be a 3 team trade, but I think Carolina flips Pesce to Nashville as early as today and uses the assets to acquire EK65. This pick is top 10 protected.
4.
SJS
  1. Granlund, Mikael
  2. Joseph, Pierre-Olivier
  3. Petry, Jeff
  4. 2025 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Granlund and Petry almost combine for Karlsson's full cap hit, but they expire 2 years earlier than EK65's, allowing just over $9M in cap space to open at the end of next season. P.O. Joseph + the '25 second are included because Karlsson is a 100 point defenseman and the Penguins will have to convince San Jose this is a better option than trading him to Carolina with millions retained for higher value assets.

Already gave you Makiniemi. Our goaltending prospect pool is weak. And once again I don't think we're dealing Pesce to Nashville through SJ. Doubt Pittsburgh wants to help with the retention either.
