This is a troll right? One of a few things is happening in this trade. Either 1. You think Coots is going to be a 1C again which then makes this a pathetic offer, 2. You think Coots will be a 2C which still makes that offer pathetic, and 3. Coots can’t play anymore and you want to pick up an 8 year LTIR contract. Since we both know you wouldn’t trade for him if option 3 is what you were thinking it means this offer is a terrible offer for a player that will still be a 2C at minimum and already has a Selke

Or there is the risk of #3 and Phili gets a good prospect? And OP is willing to take that risk?

He’s playing 1C on this team so it’s not #3. Nobody takes that contract on unless they know he can actually play still. #3 was a joke because of that. Nobody will trade for a player that has had two back surgeries without seeing that he can stay healthy. It was more so to say that this is a terrible offer for Coots if you expect him to be a 1C. Quite frankly with the cap dumping market being a 2nd for $5M dump and the prospect was drafted in the 2nd round. This deal would barely go through even if you took Coots out and it was just for future considerations

I figured OP hopes he can be that. Big risk like you said. Nothing is for certain right now.

Again if he can be a 1C again you have to pay for that. Sure risk is involved which means you take away some of the return but a cap dump, a late pick, and a decent prospect doesn’t get a 1C, doesn’t get a 2C, doesn’t even get a 3C lol. Not to mention if Coots goes back to 1C a direct rival now has him which means the price goes up even further to trade him in division. The Flyers risk of him being a 1C in division versus the CBJ risk of him getting hurt should offset which means you still need to pay 1C Selke price for him which is quadruple what this offer is
