Description
Our offense has been a problem for us for the last couple of years now. But, with all the RFA's that haven't signed with their teams yet, I think that we could take a chance with Andreas Athanasiou, one of the fastest skaters in the league, as well as being a young center with a lot of skill. Eventually, to get him, we'll have to offer the Detroit Red Wings a great trade. That's why I traded the 2018 1st round pick, in one of the most loaded drafts in recent draft history. Even though it is most likely for this pick to be a late 1st rounder, they could still get a great young player. After adding Andreas Athanasiou, I thought of a great strategy that will definitely improve our offense. I actually think that it's a really bad idea to play all your best forwards on one line because there's only one productive line and if the first line doesn't contribute, then the team loses. Redistributing the skill was a strategy used by the Pittsburgh Penguins and they won 2 consecutive Stanley Cups with that strategy. They even played Phil Kessel on the third line, while some other teams would have easily played him on the
1st line. The offense looks pretty decent with this strategy. We also have Shea Weber, one of the best defenseman in the league as well as Carey Price, the best goaltender in the league. The Pittsburgh Penguins had an average defense, a rookie in the net and still managed to win the Stanley Cup. We should at least make the playoffs with that.

You would have to throw in at least another 2nd rounder. Detroits not gonna give up a 23 year old who's maybe the fastest player in the league with a huge amount of offensive potential that he's already shown bits and pieces of for a late first rounder. Yeah there in a cap crunch but they own AAs rights either way so they don't have to make the trade unless they feel its a great return. Also from a Montreal perspective this doesn't fix your problem at center, AA has only played on the wing at the NHL level. Montreal would be better off saving their assets or look for an opportunity to use them to fix the problem at Center.
