BOS should go all in on Z

Outside of Lysell, It's a pathetic attempt to acquire a young 2C like Trevor Zegras. Not even close. it would start with Brandon Carlo and then work your way out from there.

Carlo of course I didn't know ANA would be interested in him. I also think Sway and Trent are good core pieces to be honest.

Unless Verbeek intends to move on from Gibson, There would be no use for Swayman. Trent is decent but he wouldn't be a main piece going back for Zegras. Honestly Boston doesn't have the pieces to land a caliber of player like Trevor Zegras. That's just hard core facts.

Boston probably should. Although Zegras 40% faceoff rate screams wing.

19 year old Poitras is having an eye opening camp. Zacha, Coyle, Geekie all have term. Along with Poitras, Merkulov and Beecher knocking on the door, the depth is there. The #1 is not unless Zacha takes another similar step FW or Poitras becomes it.

Zegras, while a very good young player, is more flash than substance at this point. Still has a lot to work on. Faceoffs, defense, maturity, etc.

Also he and the B’s new captain are not very fond of each other.

That’s a pretty big package but it will take a pretty big package. Debrusk and maybe Carlo could potentially be substituted as pieces as well.

I’d much rather Zegras than a Scheifele or Hertl type. But it is a risk to give up the kind of package it will take only to have him end up as LW2 if he does not improve the rest of his game. But a risk they should take if given the opportunity.
