I don't think that it's worth it for SEA. No need to rush to try to get by giving a sizeable package for a 31-year-old Zibanejad when Beniers is more than likely to turn into a 1C and Wright is coming along pretty well in his development and also has the potential to be a 1C. Adding Zibanejad alone is probably not going to be a huge difference maker for them right away, and when it is he's probably going to If someone like Pettersson were to become available then adding to this package to land him would make sense.

On the other side, the Rangers shouldn't be taking steps back, Trocheck isn't a 1C and they probably struggle to compete ultimately setting them on the course for a rebuild after failing for a few years. In the meantime, what are the chances that they mess up Wright's development? I could see it turn into a full-tear down even with the likes of Lafreniere and Wright being shipped off. Seems like a lose-lose trade to me.

As far as trade value goes though, I don't see them getting more than a Blue chip prospect selected in the top-5 + a 1st.

A lot here but I don't think petty becomes avaliable Vancouver is killing it. Also I think trocheck would be a low end 1st line center, he's elite on the draw, is good two way player and with panarin is putting up points. The rangers are going ti need cap space to keep all the younger players and the amount of NMC we have is insane. Also about value I'd drop the 1st to a 2nd mainly because I don't think Seattle could take all zibanejads contract.

Yeah, I don't think EP becomes available but was just using him more as an example of a young C becoming available (which doesn't happen often).

Maybe Trocheck ends up being serviceable as the 1C but the overall effect is probably going to be negative. As for keeping all the young guys, I think they are better off waiting and seeing what happens and kicking that down the road as long as they can. Will give more time for Lafreniere to continue to prove his worth, and Kakko to prove that he's worth keeping around. After Trouba, Zibanejad would probably be one of the hardest NMC to move unless he's going to a contender maybe. If I was the Rangers, I would move Kreider before moving Mika, and I think if he was sent to BOS (a less than ideal location to send him), he might be willing to waive. Both Zibanejad and Kreider could fill a need for BOS, but keeping Zibanejad is more important for NY imo. In the near-term, it would be much better to rely on Kakko and Lafreniere to replace Kreider than Trocheck and Chytil to replace Zibanejad.
