Description

In the news Ryan Reeves is telling the media he is OK to play and shouldn't be on IR and the Leafs are playing salary cap games. Why would he do this? He's way past his expiration date. By keeping him on IR, yes the Leafs can call up a replacement player to be within the 23 man roster but it keeps Reaves out of the AHL. To shut him up, why wouldn't the Leafs just waive him. It fixes the 23 man roster and actually creates cap space. No team is going to claim that contract so the Leafs lose nothing. Is there a subtlety of the cap I'm missing. I see so many posts waiving him and am puzzled why he's still here.
On other subjects, once Woll comes back, carry 3 goalies. Ok to trade Lagesson, Timmins or Robertson if it garners a defenceman. Rather keep Cowan and Minten than any of them. Benoit has been a nice surprise. Brodie doesn't bother me.

Leafs can waive Reaves but no team will claim him.

He's 37 years old and can only punch faces.

He's going to have to accept a demotion to the Marlies if he wants to keep collecting his NHL salary.

Or he can remain a healthy scratch with Toronto.

He doesn't make that call. The Leafs do.

Reaves has zero leverage here. He can continue whining about it or suck it up and be a pro.

Leafs have to pay him.

They don't have to play him.

Leafs aren't playing Cap shenanigans because Reaves was never placed on LTIR.

He's been on IR so he counts against the Leafs Cap.

They have every right to send him to Marlies and get his cap relief.

They're not breaking any rules.

Oilers are doing the same thing with Jack Campbell.

well if he was a skill player people would be yelling about how he's not a team player, he's selfish and doesnt respect the game or the logo on the front of his jersey.
But since, he's a useless goon who cant skate but punches people, he's clearly just passionate and wants to play through the pain! or some nonsense.
Dumbest signing in a long long long time. What a terrible contract for a terrible player for some fake culture change nonsense.
