            Not true. Anaheim would have traded Vatanen and had Bieksa waive (or bought out) to protect Manson. Please don’t be ridiculous Vegas never had the opportunity of getting Manson. dream on

            McPhee does not have to accept every trade request. If he was a smart GM, he'd have said, "too bad; I'm taking the best player you left unprotected."

            The trade occurred before the freeze. If they did not reach a deal with Vegas they would have traded Vatanen and gotten Bieksa to waive or buyout. I don’t ththink McPhee could just say no to the deal during the expansion draft after it was submitted to the league.
