Description
MUST READ

If Tanev continues to keep up the offence he could very well be one of the top d men in the league because his defensive game is so strong.

Leafs need that top RHD to play with Reilly still to unleash his true potential.

THIS TRADE ONLY HAPPENS IF TANEV CAN KEEP A GOOD SCORING PACE, 40 ish points.

Past comparables have been...

Top 4 Larsson for #1 LW Hall

Top 2-3 defenseman Hamilton for 1st and 2 2nds

Top 2-3 defenseman Jones for #1 center Johansen

Top 4 defenceman hamonic for 1st and 2 2nds

So my point is two things:

1) top defenceman come at a premium and it's no lie that the only thing keeping Toronto from the cup is a solid D core

2) giving up a player like nylander won't be that bad for the leafs because it won't affect Matthews. Matthews can carry anybody and still be elite. Plus the leafs would still have JVR bozak and marner line.

Leafs top line Can easily be changed to Hyman Matthews Kapanen and still be affective.

But now the leafs would have an awesome RHD in Tanev and their D core would be set plus MORE CAP ROOM TO GET MORE DANGEROUS.

leafs lineup could be

Hyman - Matthews - Kapanen

JVR - Bozak - Marner

Marleau - Kadri - Brown

Forth line

Reilly - Tanev

Gardner - Zaitzev

3rd pairing

Andersson

aren't you just making stuff up to justify the trade. tanev has is traditionally been a 25 point scorer over an 80 game schedule. he is not going to continue on his 55 goal pace, 2 goals in three games. i would compare harmonic to tanev not all those other defensemen you named. " top defenceman come at a premium and it's no lie that the only thing keeping Toronto from the cup is a solid D core." that's quite a jump. washington had a the best defensemen last spring and only won one round. st louis has had among the best defence in the league for years and been playoff busts. pittsburgh won the cup last year with a very mediocre defence. " tanev is the difference between the leafs winning two games in the playoffs last year and a cup." again a real stretch that has no basis in fact
i can understand the nylander for tanev trade. but your discussion points are just non factual. if tanev is the guaranteed difference between winning the cup an not, the leafs would offer more as would 10 other teams.

Are you high bruh? I'm a Canucks fan and can only dream about a trade like this

1) if you think Tanev will put up 40pts, your crazy. He won't get more than 20, especially on the crappie team he's on
2) Hamilton and Jones aren't even close comparables to Tanev
3) Nylander is a top line, young forward, why the hell would the Leafs trade him???
4) the Leafs don't even need another defenceman, especially if it's for the future we're talking about here. Reilly, Gardiner, Zaitsev, Liljegren, Dermott, Rosen, Borgman, and Nielsen...yea, they don't need another one, at the expense of one of the elite talents of the game right now and for the next 15 years

most of flashes posts are absurdly pro canuck and i'll be polite vastly underestimating the leafs personnel.
