Description
team might not be a contender, but if they believe they are, they need to fix issues. 1st would be to compensate for Smiths salary, but with both Miller and Perron maybe leaving, becomes a huge risk. Vegas is in the same position so they might take what they're offered (maybe even taking the lesser picks straight up without adding the 3rd themselves.)

I don't think dumping Smith's contract is worth losing both Vesey AND the 1st round pick. These aren't Glen Sather's Rangers - Gorton treats picks like gold (as he should!)

check the note on the trade - when the Rangers can get Miller on a better contract (2,5-3M) it IS worth it imo. Vesey isn't a huge loss

I don't think that makes NYR better overall. Short term sure but defintely not long term. They aren't a good team right now so why make that trade?

I think you're really overrating Miller here. If he was as good as you're saying, Boston would of made sure to keep him.
