Would need to add in way more. Strome (Dylan) still has a lot of upside well Ryan is gonna be a fringe top 6 guy at best

I keep hearing that Dylan has more potential and much greater upside, but at nearly 21 he still hasn't broken into the NHL at the easiest position and on the weakest team, and that's a tell. He has played all of 11 NHL games and has but 1 point (an assist) and a minus 6 rating to show for it... worse yet, he has taken just 13 shots in those 11 games. These aren't the numbers of an impact player.

The Oilers have an actual NHL player in Ryan Strome - he's just 24, already has 284 games of NHL experience and scores at a decent 0.48 ppg pace**. Ryan also plays C (much more valuable position) and RW (more important to the Oilers than Dylans LW position). Why would they trade that player for a younger, much less productive player (who doesn't play a position of need) when cap isn't an issue - let alone add significant assets to make it happen?? That doesn't make any sense.

** Over the past 5 years other players who have scored at a similar rate include Elias Lindholm (0.49), Teuvo Teravainen (0.49), Boone Jenner (0.48), Patrick Eaves (0.48), Patrick Maroon (0.47) and Christian Dvorak (0.45). That's not bad company to keep.
