1- This trade happens at the 2018 deadline when Vancouver is not in a playoff position.

2- Sedin's contract ends at the end of this year and they sign back in Vancouver for less money in the offseason (this is part of the deal)

3- Vancouver gets a butt load of picks and prospects for retaining some salary for a couple months.

4- Penguins get back to back to back cups

5- The Sedins get a Stanley Cup and only leave Vancouver for a couple months.

Canucks can only retain on 1 more contract this year as they have retained on Luongo and Hansen. So let's say you do 50% on one of the Sedins, it would not generate that kind of return. Think a first, Aston-Reese/Gustavsson and their biggest cap dump.
