I don't think the value is off here, I just don't know that the Flames need another LHD at that price.

That is super tempting, I don't think Calgary would move Valimaki though. Getting Tanev would open up Calgary to trade one or two of Stone, Hamonic, Brodie. A D core going forward of:
Gio - Hamilton
Brodie/Hamonic - Tanev
Kulak - Andersson

Would be fantastic!

The way i see it is that Calgary window is starting to open up now and what they are missing is that pure defensively sound Dman. You guys already have too many offensive Dmen and you could trade one out. I like Tanev a lot but we will just waste his prime years. unless we get 1st overall in the draft then we might be good in a year or 2.

That's fair, but they just made a move like that to get Hamonic, and I think they would be hesitant to give up Valimaki for another one. Tanev/Hamonic could be a very good shutdown pair potentially, and would likely mean trading Brodie (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).

With how young Gaudreau/Monahan/Tkachuk/Bennett/Jankowski/Hamilton are, and the prospects in the system, I feel like the window is just starting to open, and they have a few years they can afford to wait on guys like Valimaki/Dube/Andersson/Fox/Parsons, and have the window open for way longer by not moving those pieces.

Never know what happens though! Definitely an interesting idea. Well done.
