Nah... still terrible. Huge overpay. Mahura is a highly-touted prospect. I'm not moving him for a rental and a 3rd pairing D-man.

yeah but Hutton's still better than Bieksa and both players contracts are up this year, so rather than Mahura.. would you move Larsson or someone else?

Being better than Bieksa isn't much of an achievement though.

Hutton's contract ends next year and he's an RFA after that.

I'd rather not move either. This season is lost (we're probably not making the playoffs, let alone winning the cup). Regardless, even if we were in a playoff spot, I wouldn't move a top prospect for a rental, and Mahura and Larsson are both top prospects. The only asset of value we have is a 1st and that's currently a lottery pick, so I am not moving that right now either. However, if I were forced to move one of Larsson or Mahura, I'd move Mahura first, but it would have to be part of a package deal for McDonagh or someone of that calibre. Mahura's junior stats are insane and Larsson is NHL ready. I fully expect Larsson to be with the big club next season behind Lindholm and Fowler. In terms of players I'd look to move now, I'd be looking to move Vermette, Brown, Wagner, Grant, Beauchemin, and Bieksa (not that any one will have him) i.e. expiring contracts for depth players. Although these would be just small moves, we may get back a few extra picks for the draft. Moreover, we wouldn't be detracting from the core. Although I think it's unlikely we even make the playoffs, we are still in the mix. Therefore, I'd just move whatever we can get decent value for and replace them with players and prospects currently in the AHL. If we manage to go on a run after a few small trades and make it, great! If not, oh well.

fair I like your logic on this, I don't think we should be sellers though but if we do decide to move vermette I bet we could get a third rounder for him but out I think we wait for the off-season to sign a defender if we do because I doubt we sign beauch back
