The Red Wings find themselves in a difficult situation against the cap.

The Leafs have former Red Wings bench boss Babcock who is familiar with Glendening. Him being signed for cheap for 4 years is why I have his value so high. Levio is on the outs with the Leafs and would fit in well in Detroit.

Philly needs goalie help asap and Mike Green would be ever so dangerous on the power-play with Philly's talented forwards. Green would have to agree to the trade of course. Philly is more than willing to move one of their first round picks for help on the back ends. Retaining salary allows Philly to make more moves if they wish to and with Mike Green being sought after by many teams they would have to give up some talent like Morin.

With these 2 moves the Wings have 7 picks in the first 3 rounds. Come the draft I would expect the Wings to use some of these picks to either fill holes in their line-up or move some bad contracts such as Ericsson's and even Zetterberg's.

The Wings do have some promising prospects coming up and their core is very young so there is a lot to look forward to. It will likely be another 3 seasons until the Wings become a playoff team again. But that is only because there are a lot of strong eastern teams in their way.
