Defensemen are a premium ... Larsson gets Hall in return for christ sake. Canucks are going to ask for Nylander to start, that's a non starter. To make it happen it would have to similar to Hamonic trade i.e. 1st round pick plus picks and or prospects. I wouldn't pay that much, but if you're Vancouver why give him up for anything less.

100% this isnt enough for Tanev but Tanev isnt Larsson and also that Hall for Larsson deal was one of the worst lop sided trades of the salary cap era. So we can stop with the Hall for Larsson comparison. Tanev carreer high is 20 pts mostly due to the type of player he is. In my opion Van has no need to move him unless its a great offer. An A or high B level prospect and NHL ready player plus a pick is a fair value deal for Tanev but Van has no need to accept it at this time. There are cheaper short term options in the UFA market.

Tavares gets more then 9.5, probably gets over $10 million. Also, the only team that can sign him to 8 years is the Islanders because they held his rights through the last trade deadline, so even if you tradefor his rights all you get is an extra 5 days to convince him to sign.
