Is the value fair? I wasn't sure if getting the Buffalo second instead of a third and 2 fourths was too exesive

While it’s understandable to be frustrated at Faulk and Rask for having sub par seasons, they still hold relative value based on position, age, and upside. This trade would be closer in value if the picks were removed on both sides. The other thing to note is if you trade for Lehner’s rights, then you must plan to qualify him. In your post you signed him to a 3 x $3M contract but qualifying him will cost $4M. I’m not sure he’s our starter or not and $4M is a lot for someone that may or may not be a starter caliber goalie. But at $3M he’s definitely worth a shot. On the other hand, if BUF doesn’t qualify him, you can sign him for whatever terms you agree on, when he goes UFA. I like your thought process though. Finally, I’m not sure whether or not Roy’s upside will exceed the bottom six, but having his size and snarl in the lineup will certainly add a sorely needed element for this team.

Faulk is a spare part with the emergence of Mckeown. taking back Ryan O'Rielly gives Carolina a top-line center and gives buffalo some NHL caliber players. This is a win for both teams. Selling high on Roy was what I was planning on.

The Amount of talent that's going buffalo's way should be worth it
