    Even if you could make that trade with Carolina, Hanifin won't lock himself in for 8 years at $5.5M. That said, he might do that amount for 3-4 years.

    You're being overly generous to the NYIsles. If they start offering negotiating windows, those tend to be for lower draft picks. A first for the right to sign is a hefty price, since most teams would probably be just as happy to see him make it to July 1 without signing and not have to buy an eighth year.

    I don't see Montreal and Carolina being very good trade partners. Of course we'd love Hanafin, but he's goingto get kings randsom before Carolina even thinks of trading him, and Montreal doesn't have any perticular players Carolina would value. Of course I'd love to have Necas or Lindholm, but we'd be overpaying for both. We don't need Skinner or Faulk either.
