Description
The salary Cap is projected to rise from 75 million to 78-82 million next season. If the salary cap gets to 82 million, they don't have to buy out Brooks Orpik (he is a very respected figure in the locker room). The best strategy to have is to try and keep this team together for another cup run. The big question remains: How will John Carlson get paid ? I think he will accept a discount to stay in Washington (although he might get tempted to sign in Vegas) as long as he has an 8 year contract. He should be resigned before any other player in Washington. He is a blueline stud. Once Carlson is resigned, now the question is how do you keep the depth guys. Tom Wilson added a physical presence to the line of Ovechkin and Kuznetsov. He should be next on the list. Michal Kempny was a complete surprise and a nice complement to John Carlson. Jay Beagle should also be resigned. One of the best faceoff guys in the league. Finally, Devante Smith Pelly for a few clutch goals. The recipe should not be changed.
