Description
Ducks add a scoring winger with a physical presence and get Kesler's replacement.

The trade with Colorado gives them a two way forward who can score. A young RHD who is NHL ready, and RFA forward who needs a change of scenery and second round draft pick. Value might be off a little bit but it can be adjusted

BM doesn't like having his young kids in the NHL for their first year. Usually they stay in the AHL their first year and go from there. Could he make the roster, absolutely. Will he, I don't think he will and he will get more playing time in the AHL. Same goes for Terry, he will most likely stay in the AHL for the year unless he really impresses during camp.

What lines look off?

I think if the ducks want to add another big winger it should be Simmonds and I don’t like that stastny signing. Stastny handcuffs the ducks next season when kesler would be back. I do agree that BM likes to keep his youngsters in the AHL and think only one of Terry and Steel make the roster outta camp. It’ll be hard for the ducks to compete for a cup this year if Kesler is out. IMO with kesler healthy their biggest need is a top 6 LW and I’d argue that for them to be serious cup contenders a D to play with fowler is up there too. If kesler isn’t healthy that just adds another spot that has to be filled on a limited budget.

Not sold on trading for simmonds who will be 30. Landeskog will be 26 and is a little bit better player who brings in leadership plus we love the Swedes. I also wouldn't be opposed to trading for Skinner either. The addition of Landeskog or Skinner fills that top 6 need.

I think Kesler is done for his career that injury is more significant than anyone thought and RC played him way too much down the stretch. With that being said LTIR him and sign Stastny to take his place for the next 3 years. Allows Steel and Terry to mature and be on the big club as well in the next few seasons.

All this depends on if Kesler can play again. I'm thinking he's done but if he does play this year, then signing Stastny would be irrelevant and you leave that spot open for someone like Steel who could impress out of camp.

I’d like skinner too but that’ll probly take a lot. Simmonds brings leadership and grit too. I just don’t theink they need another power forward.

Kesler will play again it’s just a matter of at what level. He’s a tough SOB and won’t wanna go out like that. I mean Eaves is coming back from his syndrome. Kesler will be back at some point too.

I’d like to see steel make it and play top 9 min and pp2 but probly on the wing to start the season then ease him into the middle.
