Description

Next season new contracts of Eckman-Larsson, Chychrun and Hammer kick in, meaning the Yotes blue line will cost them an extra 7 + million on a budget-conscious team than what they have now, assuming no changes. Schlemko is a bit younger than Goligoski but more importantly much cheaper and with a shorter contract. Habs uses their cap space and get an upgrade at LD, a more offensive playmaker to partner with Weber. He's a vet who can help but won't cost a whole ton of assets since the Habs still need to restock their farm.

He's old but so is Schlemko (31), Montreal gives a pick but holds onto all their important assets. They can buy him out in his last year if they must.
