Description

Zaitsev/Brown trade would be lovely but not too sure how likely they would be. I personally think Sandin/Liljegren make the team out of camp but taking worse-case scenario that they’re not ready next season. Was a bit hopeful with the cap but it’s still possible it goes up more.

This definitely what we're on a trajectory toward... and I could certainly see Marner and Matthews both about $.5-1m higher than what you've got. Hopefully Kapanen just wants to get under contract and/or the other GMs don't wake up the possibility of using offer sheets (I would).

I hope Dubas makes a priority of moving those questionable Lou-era contracts this summer. Maybe a deep playoff run will make other GMs look kindly on Brown and Zaitsev and will make Gardiner more interested in staying with the team than exploring a giant payday. $6.6m (Zaitsev + Brown) would probably get it done with Jake if he is at all interested in staying... and it'd give the Leafs a couple picks and prospects that might develop into replacements for the likes of Hyman, Kapanen, and Johnsson, when the time comes.
