DET
  1. Lammikko, Juho
  2. McGinn, Jamie
  3. 2018 2nd round pick (ARI)

Additional Details:
Panthers get a scoring winger they're rumored to be seeking, Wings take back McGinn to lessen the financial burden.

  3. 2018 4th round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Wings take back Halak's expiring deal and flip Howard for a couple picks allowing Mrazek to start and prove if he's a worthy NHL goalie or not while the Wings enter their rebuild.
NYI
  1. Howard, Jimmy
Additional Details:
Isles look like contenders in the East and get a big upgrade in goal over Halak. Nice 1-2 punch of Howard-Greiss for the next couple years.

I know this is a tank trade, but isn't Howard better than Halak?

laugh laugh A retained Green alone nets us Bear+2018 1st round pick so we retain half on Nyquist for a 2019 2nd round pick Yeah No. A half retained Nyquist should net us another 1st round pick and Howard for Halak yeah no thanks.

No way can Detroit afford to deal both Tatar and Nyquist we really only have Svechnikov as a possible top 6 winger the rest are 3rd and 4th line scrubs at best unless you plan on trading for another top 6 winger.

Mike Green isn't really very good. He can't score, pretty much all secondary assists, abysmal in his own zone. Wings will be lucky to get just a 1st for him imo. Nyquist is worth roughly a 2nd round pick, adding Bear makes up for retaining. If you expect much more than that I think you need to lower your expectations.

As far as trading Nyquist and Tatar, the Wings are tanking in this situation so it doesn't matter if they're short a "top 6" forward. The worse they are the better their odds at getting the high end talent they need. Top 6 forward is a BS term anyway, I mean Justin Abdelkader plays in the top 6 on this team right now....do you consider him a top 6 forward?
