How about a first, but it is contingent on NYI re-signing Kane in the off-season? (They have plenty of cap coming off the books even after [likely] extending JT)

If not, it stays the 2nd.

I think you're on the right track here. It's the right pieces, but it doesn' t make sense to trade for a rental D in buffalo's situation. Why not get someone with a few more years left to build up a solid back end? This deal runs the risk of Hickey walking after this year. Is MDC and a second worth a guy who can score 40 at his best?

Kinda. I like that Hickey is a rental. Sabres have a lot of d and they are not working out. If they get anither long term contract that doesn't work out, that's gunna hurt
