Duclair, Emelin, Ryan, Stone

Description
I'd love to see the Flyers add the speedy Duclair, and though Weal is a little older at 25, their stats and salaries are comparable. The OTT deal is basically Stone for Sanheim (who is currently benched for Brandon freaking Manning, but can you imagine what that kid would learn from Erik Karlsson), and the Weise/MacDonald for Ryan trade is just a salary swap, even though Ryan's deal is for longer. Maybe Bobby Ryan can regain some form skating w/ Jake (or his buddy G) while MacDonald can stay-at-home as he watches Karlsson carry OTT on his shoulders. Flip (a guy who can play LW and C) may waive his M-NTC to go to a contender, and NSH (a contender that may want a little more depth) has a Forsberg injury with which to deal. The Emelin salary evens it out the finances of the transaction while replacing PHI defensive depth, and I love watching that guy hit.
These are all WAY more moves than what Hextall will make. People on both sides will be unhappy with that Stone/Sanheim trade, which makes me think it seems pretty fair. I'd absolutely rather keep Sanheim and trade Morin or Hagg, but to get a player of Stone's caliber, you gotta pay.
All in fun.

Absolutely want nothing to do with that horrendous Ryan contract. We'd also have to re-sign Stone to a large contract which would hurt signing our younger guys. Also don't want to trade Sanheim either. If only we had a coach that knew how to use him instead of bums like MacDonald and Manning.

Can't comment or rate the other deals, but NSH doesn't have a need for Filppula. Preds have a great deal of center depth and have no need for him. Whereas Emelin, the Preds have a need for a solid bottom pair defenseman. NSH has a few good D-man prospects still, but for the time being, the options after Emelin aren't that great. Irwin hasn't been very good at all this year. I think Weber is a good #7 but not a #6. I like Bitetto, and wish they'd play him over Weber, but he needs to play with Emelin to be effective at what he likes to do.

Which contract is worse, though, MacDonald's or Ryan's? I lean towards MacDonald's because the guy sees too many minutes, is terrible, and I'm tired of watching him transform himself into either a starfish or a turnstile. I agree that Ryan's contract is also pretty bad.
I think I mixed up Hoffman & Stone's contracts. Hoffman has 3yrs left on his deal, and for some reason I thought Stone's had 3yrs left on it.
For Sanheim, I just wish they'd either play the guy, or trade him for quality assets they WILL play (not like, Chris VandeVelde play). It's not good for the team, or for his development, to have him sitting the press box. It's infuriating.
I looked at the Preds roster, and they absolutely don't NEED Filppula, but his contract is expiring and the trade wouldn't cost a pick or a player that they rely on heavily. And teams are ALWAYS looking for depth. Plus, I like watching Emelin hit (which was most of the reasoning behind the trade idea anyway).
