Unless the Habs don't expect to re-sign Jerabek, I would try to keep him and Max for RNH is a pretty good deal, assuming EDM either re-signs Max or trades him for value next year.

I don't know if I agree that RNH for Max, straight up, is a good deal for the Habs.
We're losing too much for a player who, while drafted #1 overall, has never been able to solidify his place as a true #1 center. EDM would have to throw in a draft pick to sweeten that deal.

You're not wrong, but at least RHN is an immediate plug-&-play option and has the potential to settle the 1-2 centre spot for a while. Then, Habs could add Stastny or another solid UFA centre (or trade for one in the offseason) and settle the middle-ice situation.

Max is the better player but he is older, signed for shorter and the fact is Centre's cost more to acquire then wingers. So I don't think you'd get anything additional from Edmonton in the deal.

MaxPax for RNH makes absolutely zero sense for the Habs, Montreal is loosing the far better player in the deal. MaxPax is still a 60+ scorer RNH hardly s 50 point scorer Montreal is definitely downgrading here.
