We're carrying dead weight because Clode still doesn't trust enough of our kids. It's time that he starts giving them some chances!
Here's our guys who need adjusted playtime or to be removed:
Connolly: Dump him for picks if you can. He's shown he's Reilly Smith 2.0 - no finish. Not the worst stats, but has shown inconsistent finish so far.
Kemppainen: Make him a depth forward. All he's been good for is his faceoff skill.
Rinaldo: Why did we get this guy? His type of play is going out of style in this league, he's ineffective. Dump him for a bag of pucks if you can.
Talbot/Ferraro: I see these guys as your Campbell/Paille combo. They're fast, they play hard, they'd be extremely effective with a solid 3rd guy - which leads me to...
Randell: I've followed Tyler in Providence for years now. This guy is Shawn Thornton 2.0, but he can finish more. He's a solid leader, sticks up for the team, and doesn't get caught with the stupid hits/penalties like Rinaldo.
Chara: He's been solid, but I really think we need to start limiting him to less than 20 mins per game. He seems to have a few too many turnovers, especially when he's out with the young, inexperienced kids...
Griffith: He's grown on me in Providence this year. Last year I said dump him, I'm willing to give him one more chance - but he needs the right line mates...
Czarnik: This kid's a stud in Providence. When he and Frankie Vatrano played together, they were dominating. I'd give him a chance while Krejci is out, for sure!
Khokhlachev: He seems to be a cancer. He's always the first one off the ice after Providence games, and just plays selfishly. He's got talent, but unless he's playing a top 6 role, he won't produce in Boston...
Blidh: He doesn't drop the gloves, but he's been a great replacement for Randell while he's been up in Boston. Skates hard, hits hard, sticks up for the boys...
Hargrove, Acciari, Cave: I see these guys pushing for a roster spot in the next 2-3 years. Solid Kelly-type guys - 2-way forwards who have some finish.
Arnesson: He's a solid 2-way Defenceman. I give him 2-3 years and he'll be up in Boston.
Cross: He plays big, and he plays hard. Great leader, and sticks up for the boys. I'd compare him to Seids, but he needs another year or two of development.
Subban: If he can cut back on his aggressiveness, he'll be elite. Too many times he's flying left-to-right and back again, which puts him out of position. He makes some incredible saves, but he also lets in some softies.
McIntyre: He's pretty big, but needs some technique help. He doesn't look as big as he could when he's down in the butterfly.
Smith: I haven't seen him because he's in Iowa, but it seems he's maintaining his strong AHL numbers. I was gunning for him to back up Tuukka this preseason, hope he doesn't get lost in the flow...
