I am curious about Philly's willingness to trade Morin. He should have arrived by now. It would be fun to have a giant back on the blueline. Three firsts (even if Morin hasn't developed fully like one) and Read is a heavy cost for Philly. Might want to sweeten that pot with Lindgren or someone.

Trading Benn (or Schlemko) to TB this week would help them through the next few weeks, but they've got a fair number of developing prospects in Syracuse, so I suspect they might just take their chances for a few weeks.

If the Habs are taking on Hagelin's contract I'd expect more than a 2nd and a 3rd alongside. Plek at 50% retained if a very serviceable 2nd/3rd line centre who can play any scenario. Plus it wouldn't be a rental.

Read arguably has negative value at this point. He's an AHLer getting paid big bucks. Philly would pay to get rid of his salary hit.

Lol taking Hagelin isn’t a minus. His contract is bad, yes. You have an abundance of cap space, yes. You can retain on Hagelin at the deadline for another pick, yes. You won’t be able to sign Tavaras since Hagelin’s contract, no.

It's only one year and Hagelin skillset would work in Montreal's system. To get him AND a third pick isn't a bad option. Habs certainly have cap space galore, and will continue to unless they somehow sign Tavares.

I’ll add a 2nd on top of Hagelin+3rd.

That is a last second deadline deal, tho.

OK, but why do you prefer the delay if the cap hit is minimal? In case you don't make the playoffs? You could always add that condition to the 3rd rounder (or something conditional).

Hagelin is still valuable to us and that 2nd and 3rd can be used in other trades.

They all pass.

Byron for 2nd is fair. Benn - 6th for Dotchin - Erne is a no.

2 1sts and Morin is steep even with Read bringing overall value down.

Col has no use for Niemi

Plekanec value is 2nd even while retaining salary. 3rd and a player is deal breaker.

Hagelin has negative value with that contract. Habs would be alleviating the Pens of that contract, aloowing them to re-sign Rust and potentially Hornqvist. Colorado is reportedly looking for a backup, so why not try.

Byron = Erne + 2nd
Dotchin = Benn +6th

Fair enough on the Morin trade, testing the waters so to speak.

I mean if non-Habs fans on hfboards are saying the deal is fair value, I guess we're all overvaluing
