Does it matter, You're bringing back $12 million between Hall and Eberle and you've McDavid getting $12.5 million starting on July 1st Barzal on his next contract could be getting $6+ million you'd have a roster that's not sustainable and still have a horrendous blueline to boot.

yes but you have cap space this year!!! so you have a legit shot at adding a defenseman at the deadline and worry about straightening out the roster in the summer...
I just remember sitting at the draft party where chiarelli traded for Reinhart. when they announced the trade you have no idea how many people were pumped about that deal. I looked at my brother in law and said WHAT THE F**K... I hated the deal from the start. even if the oilers didn't take Barzal. it was touted as one of the deepest drafts in decades....

These trades look so absurdly ridiculous that if they weren't Chiarelli undos, you would get crucified for even suggesting something so dumb.

The defense still looks pretty shoddy here, but having Hall, Eberle, and Barzal gives so much additional asset value that could be used to address that through a trade.

You would have to think with this lineup, you could move Hall or maybe even Draisaitl for a legitimate top pair dman.
