    Sorry, his play does not warrant 5.7 m a year and for 6 more years. No team would ever give up prospects for him. When money (cap space) is at a premium, teams have to spend their money wisely. Much better value in the UFA market, or teams trading needs for needs for about equal dollars.

    His name has value but it would bring back similar salary. Is trade Staal for someone like Ennis who the Sabres are trying to get rid of

    I think you overestimate the intelligence of a lot of NHL GM's
