    I feel that any scenario where Phillip Danault is our 2C is a scenario where we don't contend for a cup. If you're telling this is the first step to eventually getting another 2C, fine. But in my opinion, this can't be the long term plan.

    Instead of putting Pacioretty in that trade to STL, I would put him in a trade with EDM (with other assets) and desperately try to get RNH.

    1.2.3 down the middle with Tavares/RNH/Danault makes for a solid top 3.

    While I think Danault is underrated, I agree with you. RNH plays a very complete game; he'd be a killer addition, but he wouldn't come cheap.

    Should also point out that in this scenario, the #2C slot would likely be taken over by Barbashev / Kyrou at some point
