Description

With the way Shipachyov was handled it's almost guaranteed Gusev wants no part of Vegas.

Idea here is Vegas gives up a late first round pick and a player they'll never see for a hot veteran for their playoff run.

Gusev might visualize the Rangers as more of an option because of Russians already involved with NYR, including teammate Igor Shesterkin and former Teammate Pavel Buchnevich. Another noted name is Alexei Bereglazov who is currently in the KHL, but on a contract w/ NYR.

Maybe in two years Igor and Nikita both come over to NYR and could go from there

Obviously Rangers make more trades, but I wanna focus on this idea

The NYR probably do not have to retain salary, Vegas has at a few defensman that are UFA's that make 3+ mil.
