These trades are not good.

BUF trade is a train wreck. No point for Dallas to give up a potential RHD, two decent depth players and possibly two semi-high draft picks for only one playoffs of Kane.

Methot-Cole trade is pointless. PIT couldn't afford Methot, and DAL doesn't need Cole.

Shore and Jones has both been decent this season. Trading them would make a big hole in the roster. I'd rather keep Shore for couple of years than get Green for one playoffs, when it's possible to get him as a free agent next season.

And taking Nash wouldn't really make big of a difference. We'd just lose Spezza, who is better than Nash.

Basically, this armchair-gm is just acquiring 3 rental players, and destroying completely the core that Dallas has had this season.

Just pointless.

Perhaps, but since Rangers dealt their top C to ARI, they could use one. Spezza is not the long term answer, but his salary is slightly less than what Nash's was, and you get 1 more year of him. Plus- with this deal, NYR save, as they're getting a 40 point player, 1 year removed from a 50+ point season, for only 5M for 1 year of term. Not a bad deal. Desrosiers needs a change in scenery, and could be a valuable add as a future backup with upside, and they also get that 2nd in 2019, which could turn out to be a 1st. Try replacing Nash's production for less than 5 million, and you're likely going to have to sign for more term, or add someone with bigger question marks surrounding them, like Vancouver did with some depth scorers (Vanek, Gagner).

Clinging to those first-round picks like it's life and death.
No way Kane moves to DAL without the first-round pick for this year being offered, along with probably a young forward.
Detroit will want a higher pick and not all the players.
PIT and NYR decline as well.
