Florida messed up the expansion draft worse than anyone. They should never have protected Petrovic. If they left him exposed they'd still have those 2 forwards

it wasn't about protecting Petrovic, the owners wanted Tallon to shed salary hence the trade of Smith to Vegas but for Vegas to agree to the trade the Panthers needed to leave Marchessault unprotected for Vegas to pick. Just the owners being cheap
