Since we are weak up the middle, the one question to ask is...is Schmaltz better than Wennberg?
If so, then maybe forget the Hoffman deal and package Jenner, Milano, and a 1st or 2nd for Schmaltz?
This would make a young top 3 trio of Dubois, Schmaltz & Wennberg...Dubi can then move over to the LW.

If I were the hawks I would not move Schmaltz for that price. Schmaltz feels to me like a cornerstone of the franchise for the next several years

The Blackhawks have been scouting the really hard over the past week. Something is brewing. The Jackets need help at forward mainly center. They won’t trade Kane, Toews is the captain and can’t imagine them trading him. Could be Anisimov but with his injury history and his displeasure for Torts doubt it is him. Schmaltz fit the bill. Plus, this allows the Blackhawks to bring up Hayden and give him some significant playing time. They need depth on the wings and the Jackets have that.

I don’t think so. Saad is ok but the Blackhawks need him to have a bounce back season next year in order to get his true value. Remember they gave up Panarin for him.
