Philly, Kings and housekeeping

Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 21, 2018
Published: Feb. 21, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Kings have good Cs and RWs, but would benefit from a creative player on the LW. Galchenyuk fills that. A mid-first (Vilardi) and what will be a late first is a decent return. Perhaps Habs would need to throw in a conditional pick based on Chucky's performance.

With Wayne Simmonds out for the balance of the regular season, the Flyers can't risk falling off the pace. Pacioretty is a plug-and-play solution, who comes with a cheap contract and a high second rounder. Nolan Patrick is a few years from being excellent, so it's trading some future for some present. McCarron for Morin is just a swap of big guys who would benefit from new homes.

Winnipeg should insure itself with a decent #2 goalie. Niemi has been there before.

Wouldn't trade Patrick for Patches in a 1 for 1. He's found his game, and has been fantastic the last few months. He only struggled because he had double hernia surgery in the summer, which meant he couldn't do any conditioning in the summer; thus, he came into the league mentally ready but not physically ready. He's healthy now, and looks it.

It was Patches and a second, which is really designed to bolster the Flyers for the present (while Simmonds is out) and for the playoffs. He is also affordable for next season, as the hit would be just $2.5M. That was my thinking. It would be worse if the Flyers missed going deep in the playoffs this year and Giroux, Voracek and Simmonds all start to age out.
