The trades aren't bad but I don't see Hartman moved for anything less than a late first round pick or (2) second round picks. I usually don't subscribe to this logic but considering Harman is coming off his first ELC I will consider it but Hartman was a first round pick, he's not a bust and turned out to be what we thought we were getting when he was drafted and he's progressing as planned..He's 23 and he scored 19 goals last season, he plays a physical game and is an ideal "elite" 3rd liner that can plug into the top 6 if needed...
I mean I don't see Hartman getting anything less than Shaw, I would expect more actually considering I think Hartman has more natural talent than Shaw - and maybe one day (this is a stretch but) could become a James Neal type.. Remember he's only 23 so there is still room to grow, he does have the potential to be a consistent 25-30 goal scorer if used right and played with the right linemates.
So yea, I wouldn't trade him for anything less than an overpayment... He's going to be relatively cheap at 1.75-2 per over 2 years and the potential is there to be far better down the line than he is now.... He's certainly an intriguing player that has the skills to stick in the NHL for a while, but I think he's only going to get better.... If Hartman didn't get better he would still be an adequate 3rd liner.
If we must trade him and it's Winnipeg I would want at least their first round pick (#23-31) and perhaps a second in 2019 or a third in 2018.. But I wouldn't trade him - I just think that is Hartman's value considering the aforementioned.
