The misfits who seem to respond to these posts, often overlook past trades. For instance, a one-time fourth line center named Paul Gaustad once drew two first-round picks from Nashville, in a trade with Buffalo.
Players have strengths that will draw teams to want them. Nash is a former 40 goal scorer, that has transformed his game. A dramatic weapon both on the power play and the penalty kill. There are coaching staffs that would know EXACTLY what to do with a player like Nash.
Challenged by the right situation, Nash could make a Stanley Cup contender an instant threat to take down Pittsburgh.
As for McDonagh, his play justifies itself. And by the way, eight Cup contenders wanting to add him cannot be just a coincidence. Though five of them also have Karlsson on their agenda, a player who can potentially score goals as well as stop them, and whose contract saves $1.8 million in a potential move is a likelier deal to complete.
