And nowhere near enough for Weber either.

Start amassing picks in 2020. Getting Alexis Lafrenniere should be a big target for the Habs. Getting two or three first rounders now for a draft in 2 years is how to get lucky ... right, Boston?

McNabb jumps right in in the left side with Petry. Brännström is a 2017 1st round pick with high potential. Two 2nds isnt nothing.
There are only a very limited amount of teams capable of taking Price contract. Bellows, a very good 2nd and a 1st is enough for Price. Montreal isn't getting top value for Price and Price is not helping with the tank and rebuild.
McNabb and Ladd will help guide the youngsters.

Byron, Shaw, Petry, Gallagher can be traded within the next 2 years for picks in 2020. But right now Price, Weber and Pacioretty need to be traded to help us get lottery picks for the next 3 seasons at least.

If lottery picks are the goal, best line up 3 per year and aim to suck that long. Embrace the big suck years, but have a plan. Part of that is getting rid of the horror show coaching in Laval. Molson needs to find a GM who likes his players more than he likes his tailor. And then spend to the cap on 1-2 year contracts for aging vets who still want to put on a show (like the Vegas gang).

Lottery pick is the only way to go. Like you said, the team in Laval made the playoffs once in the last, what 5 years?, and it was due to a change in the playoffs format. We have one of the worst, if not the worst prospects pool in the league.
The core is aging, the team is soft, small, lacks skills and talents. The team needs 2 top 2 centermen, 2 top 2 dmen.
It is a mess created in part by Bergevin but its also a result of this organization lack of vision and planning. We need to stop with the " when you are in the playoffs anything can happen" mentality.

We seem to be in agreement.

Please have a look at the team I just posted. I'd appreciate your thoughts. The idea was get young fast, but bring in two of the best "pros" of a generation.

Laval is a giant dung heap of a team, even when the players aren't on emergency duty with the Habs.

This Price trade could actually workout. Obviously you’re gonna get a haul for the best goalie in the world, but the issue is his awful contract that has yet to start. The only war they get that return is by taking back an awful contract like Ladd. Good job
