Scoring Winger Help - Bring up the Young D!

Created by: Westerner
Team: 2018-19 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 13, 2018
Published: Mar. 13, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Hoffman will want out, he would love to play with Monahan and Gaudreau (although I would rather trade away Johnny for a massive package out east), Ottawa gets a good defensive player to get them 30+ points a year and lesson the blow of losing Karlsson in the summer, and a good talented B level prospect.
Bennett gets a change of scenery on a great young team in Vegas, and Vegas gets a good young D prospect with some upside(would be ok taking away the 2nd or 3rd to get Tuch).
Lazar...I'd take a bag of pucks but a 3rd seems reasonable, maybe a 4th.
Boston will have a hole to fill and Stone can provide some good leadership and experience for the new young D coming up in B town.
Kovulchuck, I know its a stretch, probably won't play for a Canadian team but this line up sure looks good.

The value isn't that bad at all but I'm not sure why OTT would retain on any Hoff deal

I'm not sure BOS would have interest in Stone. We already have 4 RHD under contract

Kovalchuk ain't signing in Calgary. Not even for $9M per year. This is straight out of EA Sports NHL 2019.

The Hoffman deal looks like something that OTT would probably do. I think the Mangiapane piece makes it an over-pay by CGY, but it also explains part of the salary retention (OTT and Melnyk specifically, aren't really going to want to retain any more salary after the Phaneuf deal).

That VGK deal looks interesting, and they have picks to spare. I doubt Bennett goes to a Western conference team, let alone to a team in the Pacific division.

I don't think the Flames will move Lazar for less than what they paid. They seem to really like having him around and view him as a long-term, cap-friendly bottom 6 guy who can play any position down there. He needs to get a lot better, but if they don't get a 2nd rounder back (or package him with Brouwer to move salary), I don't see Treliving selling him.
