Dreaming of Russia

Created by: CM10

Description
Sikura is a skilled centre and Chicagos best prospect but he is also set to become a free agent if Chicago can't sign him. He is limited to a entry level deal and unlike years past there is a roster spot to be had. (Currently has 52 points in 32 games in the NCAA)

Shalunov is a big center at 6'3" 216lbs, he is a draft pick from 2011 who has developed in Russia... IF Chicago can lure him out of Russia he would be an instant boost to the Chicago line up (currently has 20 goals and 20 assists in 46 games)

Krys is a young defensemen with great skating ability. He may not be ready to leave BU but it would be nice to have his ability on the back end and help him gain some experience. This may not happen though.

Colorado Trade - Colorado has made some big steps this year and is looking like a team that could make some noise going forward. They also have the cap space to take on some contracts. It may be a bit of a stretch to give both murphy and anisimov to colorado as they may not want both contracts but with their cap space and the teams development they may be happy to take on some veteran players without losing any current roster players or prospects.

Kovalchuk - He is looking to get back into the NHL to chase a cup. The hawks could become a better contender with him on the team. They have had success before getting players cups.... Timonen Mayers Hossa..... and he may choose to play on a line with Saad and Toews.... who have needed a winger all year and still has an empty spot. Kovalchuk wants a cup for the triple gold.

Hinnostroza, Duclair, Hayden get bridge deals. other cap hits will be off the books before they need to be resigned.

Enstrom - add a veteran d-man on a short term deal because he has had injury issues but could be a great addition to the team.

Contracts for Hayden, Duclair and Hinostroza are much too high. Krys definitely is not ready. Shalunov won't come this summer...he still has a contract in Russia. Probably wouldn't want to give 2 years and $3 million per to Enstrom either in case he doesn't pan out. I'd love to see Kovalchuk though. I think he might even be better with Schmaltz and Kane...almost like a Panarin replacement.

Krys would be with the team only if he decided to leave school and would play minimally in a development role. I know Shalunov is under contract next year but he could be added at the end of the season much like nashville is. the Enstrom deal is to have a d man who can play until one of the prospects is ready to step in. the bridge contracts for duclair harder and hinostroza are probably high but I hate when people always make ridiculous contracts just to provide a ton of cap space. I also would like to point that when the cap rises all contracts rise along with it.
I agree kovalchuk would look great with kane and schmaltz but I think he would look great anywhere.
