I know Doughty is amazing but Morgan Rielly has been building into are #1 D man so I don’t know why you would get rid of him even for Doughty

The Leafs are giving up way to much in the LA deal, Morgan Rielly is a reliable defensemen and arguable one of the top 10 defensemen in the league, not to mention his salary is only 5,000,000 per year while Doughty is getting paid 7,000,000 and only has 1 year left on his contract. In that the trade the Leafs give up a 1st and 2nd and you never know how good those picks (players) will end up being. Josh Levio and Conner Carrick are both pretty good players so Maple Leafs just giving up to much in that deal. Look at it this way: Morgan Rielly has a cheaper and longer contract than Doughty. Doughty is an elite player but so is Rielly, currently Rielly is the Leafs best defensemen, now you add two picks in the 2019 draft that are both in the first 2 rounds, those picks may turn out to be star players, Leivo can score goals and Carrick is pretty good, so I thin this is a bad trade for the Blue and White. Also Doughty will probably sign with Toronto anyway if the Leafs have cap room.
