JVR wud get way more on a 4 year contract, Nylander would get about 1 mil more than that and I don’t think that Toews trade makes a ton of sense for either team. There’s also no reason to pay to get rid of Horton when we can stash him on LTIR.

I don't see JVR or Nylander at 5.5, the Toews trade would not be accepted and I don't see giving three draft picks for a guy slotted in as a 13th forward.

Leafs not about to change direction, alter their core and give up futures to acquire Toews and his cap hit! If you want to talk Doughty, Tavares, et al. . . . .I think they look to free agency vs. trade, and even then, how do you evaluate losing Marner, or Willie, to make the change in direction. JVR may take a hometown discount (may not), but one with term, and 4 years and $5.5M isn't in the realm!
